About Us
My name is Bridget Percy and I have been running Braestone Farm since 2001. The farm is 276 hectares in size and 32 hectares of flat land is currently leased to my neighbours, Claire and Mike Dillon. I am currently running 500 ewes, 30 cattle and 40 deer. I also do relief primary teaching at local schools (from Pahiatua to Carterton); have a Certificate in Relaxation and Sports Massage from the NZ College of Massage; teach Spanish Lessons in primary schools and to private students; host international farmstay students in the weekends and holidays; and tutor primary aged children afterschool in spelling and writing skills.I also run a local tourism networking and marketing group called Tourism Eketahuna which meets bi-monthly - you can find information about our members on this site. I am Assistant Sports Massage Therapist for Wairarapa Bush Rugby over winter and in 2009 supported the Cancer Fundraiser "Relay for Life" in Masterton by organising local massage therapists to give free massages to the RFL walkers though the night. Over summer I employ ‘woofers’ (see wwoof.co.nz) and other agricultural students from overseas who help on the farm in exchange for their board and I occasionally employ other casual helpers on the farm or to help with The Hut or La Casa. The Hut was completed in September 2005 and La Casa was purchased in September 2007. The site for The Hut was levelled out by bulldozer and the materials for The Hut were helicoptored up and The Hut was built by Versatile Buildings on site. To minimise the impact on the environment of offering short term accommodation I ask that my guests recycle as much as possible (facilities available) and that they leave their beds unmade so that I can wash only the bedding and towels which have been used. Everyone is welcome to The Hut however the main groups who come are : · Couples for some quality time (and some relaxing hand and foot massages) · Newly-weds to chill out after the hectic lead up to their wedding day · Groups of friends – including walking groups who get together each year just to catch up or for a special event such as a birthday · Families with young children through to teens · Any other local or international visitor passing through, especially those with a special interest in NZ native trees and birds. La Casa is perfect for: · Groups visiting Masterton to see family and friends · Those attending events in the area; · Salespeople or small business groups wanting their own space; · Any other domestic or international visitors passing through Masterton. |
