                   A wonderful chance to experience real NZ farm life! 

Friday
 -
 Catch the 4.33pm train from Wellington to Masterton and I will collect you from the Masterton train
station at 6.15pm (it is the last stop on the train line) & take you by car to Braestone Farm
 -  20 minutes' drive.
 
 

Saturday & Sunday
 -
 Enjoy your farm experience including all or some of the following: 

  ■    
See and learn more about the farm animals  -  deer, sheep, cattle, horses & dogs.
       Practice your English using everyday conversational English and learn new farming vocabulary.
  ■     Look around the 276ha farm including 130 ha of Native New Zealand Bush.
       Visit the Pukaha Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre, located next door to the farm  -  find the kiwi,
         takahe, tui, tuatara, kaka and eels and many more native species.
       Visit Middleton Model Railway and Cwmglyn Country Cheese nearby
.
       Visit Masterton  Aratoi Art Museum, The Shear Museum (history about sheep shearing in NZ),
         Genesis Recreation Centre (swimming, big slide, spa/sauna), and enjoy a coffee at Entice Café
         or an ice cream in Queen Elizabeth Park.

       *Visit Castlepoint Beach (1 hour’s drive) if the weather is fine.
       *Have a night in ‘The Hut’  www.thehut.co.nz  -  a warm, comfortable bush cottage with amazing views.
       Go for a bush walk in the Tararua Forest Park (at Putara nearby or Holdsworth near Masterton.)
      
Go for a walk or bike ride on the farm or just relax & enjoy the country air!

Sunday afternoon
 -  Catch the 4.50pm train which arrives in Wellington at 6.25pm.   

What is included?
 Return transport from Masterton Train Station to Braestone Farm;  accommodation in
a warm, comfortable 3 bedroom home (one room has a double bed, the other has two single beds);
 
Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch & dinner, Sunday breakfast & lunch;  entry to the Pukaha Mt Bruce National Wildlife Centre, The Shear History Museum, Aratoi Art Gallery, and Middleton Model Railway.
 

What should I bring?
 Please bring your camera, a warm jacket, long trousers/jeans, sneakers or boots,
and a change of clothes (farm jackets, waterproof leggings and a range of gumboot sizes will be provided
-  
however if you can buy or borrow gumboots which fit you then please bring them).
 

* Please notify me before coming if you wish to go to Castlepoint or stay in The Hut
. 

Cost:

Farmstay weekend
for 1-2 people  -  $200/person or $170/person for 3-4 people
.
One night option:
 (Catch 9.55am train Saturday, arrives 11.30am, return Sunday 4.50pm train) - $150/person.
Farmstay + Sightseeing:  (1-4 people, up to 1 week) $100/day/person.
ESOL Programme:  (3 hours English tuition plus farmstay and off-farm activities) $150/day.  

Note for Homestay/Activities Coordinators 

Please notify me of the names, ages, and cell phone numbers of students before they come.
Also please give them my contact details and let me know your after-hours contact numbers.
 
Please let me know if the students have any food preferences, health concerns or allergies.
Encourage them to bring warm clothing, a good jacket (a waterproof farm coat will be provided but especially
in winter students should bring their own good jacket as well) and if possible to borrow or buy some gumboots.
It is best that students purchase a return train ticket before their travel date and that they double check which
platform the train leaves from before boarding the train.
 
Also please let students know that Masterton is the final stop on the train line
.  

Students will get the most out of their stay if they are happy to communicate in English and let me know the
types of activities they enjoy.
